Change ASURITE Password

If you know your ASURITE password, you can change it by visiting the ASU Change Password website OR it can be updated through your My ASU account.

  1. Sign in to My ASU.

  2. Visit the Profile tab.

  3. Locate the Account Details box.

  4. Click Passwords and Security

  5. Click the Update Password link.

  6. Enter your current password and a new password.

  7. Click the Save button.

Password Criteria

  • Ensure your password is between 10 and 127 characters in length.

  • Use any combination of letters, numbers, spaces, and symbols (printable ASCII characters only). Accents and accented characters aren't supported.

  • Use a password that is not all numbers

  • Avoid easy-to-guess passwords or re-use of passwords from other websites.

180 Day Password Procedure

To protect your personal information, a time limit is placed on active ASURITE passwords. After your password has been active for 180 days, you will be prompted to change your password. This new password will then be active for an additional 180 days before you will be asked to change your password again. Changing your password protects your university data, your personal information, and your identity from outsiders.

ASU's computer systems check for your last password change date. Five days prior to your password expiration, you will begin to get reminders to change your password when you sign in. If you have not changed your password prior to expiration, you will automatically be prompted to change your password once you attempt to access the system. You will be redirected to the ASURITE Password Changer webpage, where you can enter a new password and evaluate its strength.

Please note: All users at ASU are asked to comply with the 180 Day Password Procedure.

Additional Information:

Single Sign-on

ASU employs a "single sign-on" system for ASURITE logins. Once you've logged into one webpage on that system, you will automatically be logged into any other webpages that are part of the single sign-on group. This includes My ASU. If you close your web browser, or switch to a different web browser, you will have to sign in again.

Synchronizing Passwords

There are several password systems that are all associated with the ASURITE UserID. Synchronizing those passwords so they are all set to the same value will help eliminate confusion during the login process. That way, you won't need to keep track of which password is used by each individual ASU system you might be logging into. If you are experiencing problems logging into something, synchronizing your passwords at the ASU Change Password website is a good way to at least eliminate the password as the source of the problem.
