Can a Starbucks Partner Submit a Parental Nondisclosure Form and Use CAP Benefits?

In order for Starbucks partners to be eligible to participate in the Starbucks College Achievement Plan, they must submit a FAFSA each financial aid year and be eligible for federal student aid. Those partners considered "dependent" for federal student aid purposes may find collecting parent information difficult, however, the SBX CAP benefits are dependent on a completed, valid FAFSA.

Dependent students whose parents do not support them and refuse to provide parent information on the FAFSA can submit a request for Federal Student Loan due to parental nondisclosure by submitting a Dependency Review and selecting the last option: My parents refuse to provide their information on the FAFSA. However, if a Starbucks partner chooses this option, the partner will not be eligible for SCAP benefits.

Since the request for Federal Student Loan due to parental nondisclosure prevents a Starbucks partner from using their SCAP benefits, they should speak with a CAP Financial Aid Counselor prior to submitting a request. To discuss further options, you may contact a CAP Financial Aid Counselor at 480-965-3200, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (MST).
