Changes to external email standards impacting ASU email auto-forwarding

« Go Back
Information

Beginning on April 1, 2024, major email service providers, including Apple, Google, Yahoo and others, are implementing new email security measures and policies that may impact those who auto-forward their @asu.edu email to external email service providers. Technologists across the university have been working to ensure campus email systems comply with these providers' changes.

Because of this change, we encourage every ASU student and employee who has enabled auto-forwarding to disable this feature. Failure to do so may result in emails to and from your @asu.edu email account being delayed or undelivered.

The following steps will resolve this issue in fewer than five minutes:

  1. Sign in to your My ASU Profile.
  2. Under the Contact Details box, open the Email dropdown menu.
  3. Select Manage your ASU email address.
  4. Select Manage next to the corresponding email address.
  5. Select “MS Exchange for ASU" or "Gmail for ASU" and then select "Update email address" to request the change to your email delivery.
  6. Open the verification email sent to your selected service and click the verification link to complete the change.

Even if you do not forward your email to external providers, remember that students and colleagues who have not changed their settings may not receive emails you send until they update theirs. If you notice unexpected delays in email response times, we encourage you to contact them through alternative channels.

Please contact the ASU Experience Center with any questions or concerns.
