Do All Obama Scholars Who Are Incoming Freshmen Have to Live on Campus?

« Go Back
Information

While living on campus is not required for an incoming freshman, the rate of student success and persistence is higher when students have the opportunity to participate in living in a campus community environment.

ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services will reflect your budget and award as living on-campus as long as you confirm your housing by June 1 for your housing assignment to be finalized by Aug. 1. If your housing assignment is not finalized by Aug. 1, your budget will be reduced to a commuter budget and your awards will be adjusted accordingly.

Your first year Obama Scholars funding is based on your housing status:

  • If you live on campus: Your Obama Scholars funding will cover a portion of your on-campus housing and meal costs.
  • If you live with your parents: The Obama Scholars Program does not cover housing costs for students living with their parents.
  • If you live off campus: The Obama Scholars Program does not cover housing costs for students living off campus.
