Overview of the SAP Review process
- Submit the complete SAP Review and supporting documentation to ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services through the task on your My ASU.
- If you are exceeding the maximum credit hour standard, your SAP Review requires that you provide an email from your academic advisor with an academic plan that, if successfully followed, will result in only taking courses required for graduation.
- When submitting this email, make sure that the advisor's outgoing email address and their email signature are both visible. This is needed so that we can confirm who is sending the email.
- The outcome of this appeal will depend on the nature of the circumstances, the quality of the documentation provided and how well you have demonstrated the ability to progress toward degree completion within a reasonable time period. All documentation submitted is confidential.
- You will be notified by ASU email regarding the outcome of your appeal.
- If the appeal is approved, you will be placed on financial aid probation and will be eligible to receive financial aid for one term.
- If your appeal is denied, you may attend ASU by paying with personal resources, using the ASU Payment Plan or with a private student loan. Private student loans require an application and credit approval; check with your lender to determine if your SAP status is applicable to receiving your loan.
Important notes:
- Submission of an appeal is not a guarantee of an approval and/or reinstatement of financial aid eligibility.
- Inability to pass course material is not an extenuating circumstance.
- Repeat SAP Reviews will be denied unless you have new and extenuating circumstances.
- Failure to meet the terms of the academic plan may result in the loss of financial aid eligibility for future terms.
- Your SAP status does not affect your ability to register for classes.
