Information
Depending on which requirement you are not meeting, you can take the following actions.

If you are not meeting the GPA standard, you can:
  1. Enroll at ASU without financial aid and raise your GPA to meet the required GPA standard.
  2. Submit an appeal to have your financial aid reinstated by completing the Satisfactory Academic Progress Review for one term of financial aid probation
If you are not meeting the pace rate standard, you can:
  1. Enroll at ASU without financial aid and pass sufficient credits to meet the required cumulative pace rate standard.
  2. Submit an appeal to have your financial aid reinstated by completing the Satisfactory Academic Progress Review for one term of financial aid probation
If you are exceeding the maximum credit hour standard, you can:
  1. Enroll at ASU without financial aid until you are able to graduate with your degree.
  2. Submit an appeal to have your financial aid reinstated by completing the Satisfactory Academic Progress Review for one term of financial aid probation

Overview of the SAP Review process
  • Print the SAP Review and complete the student information section as well as sections A, B1 and C.
  • If you are exceeding the maximum credit hour standard, your SAP Review requires that you meet with your ASU academic advisor to develop an academic plan that, if successfully followed, will result in you attaining the required standards for SAP.
  • The outcome of this appeal will depend on the nature of the circumstances, the quality of the documentation provided and how well you have demonstrated the ability to progress toward degree completion within a reasonable time period. All documentation submitted is confidential.
  • Submit the complete SAP Review and supporting documentation to ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services.
  • You will be notified by ASU email regarding the outcome of your appeal.
  • If the appeal is approved, you will be placed on financial aid probation and will be eligible to receive financial aid for one term
  • If your appeal is denied, you may attend ASU by paying with personal resources, using the ASU Payment Plan or with a private student loan. Private student loans require an application and credit approval; check with your lender to determine if your SAP status is applicable to receiving your loan. Important notes:
  • Submission of an appeal is not a guarantee of an approval and/or reinstatement of financial aid eligibility.
  • Inability to pass course material is not an extenuating circumstance.
  • Repeat SAP Reviews will be denied unless you have new and extenuating circumstances.
  • Failure to meet the terms of the academic plan may result in the loss of financial aid eligibility for future terms.
  • Your SAP status does not affect your ability to register for classes.
