Any restrictions to enrollment due to a Citizenship Verification Hold are lifted by University Registrar Services.
The easiest (and preferred) method of verification for most students is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students verified via the FAFSA do not need to provide additional documentation. The
My ASU task is cleared after ASU receives and accepts your FAFSA, which is typically five to seven days after the FAFSA is submitted and accepted.
If you are not verified through the FAFSA process then you will need to submit documentation. Please take the following steps:
- Submit your verification documents online.
OR - Fill out the Citizenship Status Verification form and submit the form and appropriate documentation to University Registrar Services via email at registrar@asu.edu or mail.
It may take 24 to 48 hours after processing for the hold to be removed from My ASU.
Proof of verification of citizenship or other lawful presence in the United States is required in order for students to be eligible for consideration of resident tuition and for aid funded in part or whole by state funding. Please see
Verification of Citizenship and Lawful Presence for more information.
