Information
After completing the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid and listing ASU's Federal School Code 001081, you may request Student Direct Loans or Parent PLUS Loans for coursework ASU has documented as necessary for you to enroll in an eligible program by submitting the Financial Aid Request for Preparatory Coursework form. The courses must be part of an eligible program offered by ASU, though you do not have to be admitted in that program.

You are eligible for loans for one consecutive 12 month period (not per program) if enrolled in least half time in these prerequisite courses. Your loan limit is not prorated if the coursework lasts less than an academic year. You may receive multiple loans if the period of preparatory courses spans more than one academic year (i.e., spring 2020 to fall 2020).

Loan amounts depend on your dependency status and what type of program you are seeking admission to after the preparatory coursework (i.e., undergraduate, graduate or teacher certification). You will not qualify for loans if you are only taking courses to raise your GPA.
