To return loan funds that you no longer need, please download, print, and complete the Return of Financial Aid Funds form. This can then be mailed to Financial Aid & Scholarship Services at the address on the form, or brought into one of our locations. You can return the funding as:
- A personal check
- An ASU refund check
- A cashier's check/money order
It generally takes up to 3 weeks for our office to receive something sent by mail. Once received, it will take several more weeks for our office to process the reduction of your loan(s) and cancel the check. Note that the reduction of the loan will typically result in a charge on your account for the amount of the reduction; once the check is cancelled, that will then reduce the balance by the amount of the check.
ASU will return the loan funds to the lender on your behalf. Please do not send a payment to your lender.
Please note: Return of Federal Direct Loan and Federal Direct PLUS Loan funds cannot be made after 120 days from the date of disbursement.
