How Do I Stay in or Enroll into an ASU Class If I Already Have AP Credit for That Course?

« Go Back
Information

Current university policy for undergraduate students is that credit will not be granted for courses taken at an educational institution after credit by examination has been awarded.

Note: Students with credit by exam have two options:

  1. keep the credit earned by exam in their cumulative university hours, OR
  2. remove the credit earned by exam and complete the ASU course (and use the credit and grade instead, regardless of the order in which the exam or course are taken)

Steps to take:

  1. Contact your academic advisor regarding your credit by exam and the impact on your academic progress.
  2. Complete the Credit by Exam Adjustment Request form.

OR

  1. Send an email to courses@asu.edu from your @asu.edu email address with the following information:
    • Name
    • ASU ID Number
    • The term/year and the class(es) you would like to enroll (or stay enrolled) in. Please list the course prefix and number, e.g., CHM 101.

Please refer to the ASU Academic Catalog for additional information regarding credit by examination including advanced placement.
