How long can I be an Exploratory student and what if I have 45+ credits but I’m not ready to declare?

« Go Back
Information
You can remain in Exploratory for up to three semesters (45 credits). However, you don't need to wait that long to declare a major. You may declare a major that you are eligible for at any time. To declare a major, you can request your major change online through this Change Your Major web tool. Select "Change My Major" and follow the questions asked. It usually takes 24-48 hours to process the major change (if accepted).  It is also important to meet with an advisor in your newly declared major to discuss major requirements and map out a plan to graduation.

Once you complete 45 credits, if you've not declared a major at the time, your major will be administratively changed to either Liberal Studies, BA or Interdisciplinary Studies, BA offered through the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts (CISA).
