Information
Generally, your parent has 10 to 25 years to repay their Parent PLUS Loan, depending on the repayment plan that they choose. There are several repayment plans available.

Your parent can use the Federal Student Aid Repayment Estimator to get an early look at which plans they may be eligible for and see estimates for how much they would pay monthly and overall. If your parent does not choose a repayment plan, the U.S. Department of Education will default to the Standard Repayment Plan with fixed monthly payments for up to 10 years.

Your parent can change repayment plans at any time by contacting their loan servicer (a company that takes care of the billing and other services on Parent PLUS Loans). The Parent PLUS Loan is assigned to a loan servicer by the U.S. Department of Education after the first disbursement is paid out.
