Information
Arizona state law requires that you, as a Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College intern and student teacher, have a valid "Identity Verified Print" (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) prior to being placed in a school for internships or student teaching. You will be required to submit a copy of both sides of the card before starting your iTeachAZ teacher preparation program.

There are three ways to apply for your fingerprint clearance card:

  1. Attend a Teachers College Fingerprint Clearance Card event. Opportunities to apply for cards are offered at the Tempe campus at the start of each semester.
  2. Visit a Community Wellness and Safety of Arizona location.
  3. Request an application packet from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and have your fingerprints rolled at a local police station.
It takes approximately six to 10 weeks to receive your card from DPS. Teachers College recommends that you apply for your card at least one semester before you need it.
