How Can I Accept My Loans for the Spring Semester and Not Fall?

Information
If you are attending ASU only for spring semester AND were offered financial aid for fall and spring, please submit a letter to Financial Aid and Scholarship Services to adjust your awards. Be sure to include your full name, your ASU ID number, your signature and the semester that you want to cancel your awards. Your cost of attendance and expected family contribution from the FAFSA will be adjusted from two semesters to one semester. Your awards will be based on your new one semester eligibility.

If you are transferring from another school, you must cancel any remaining portion (i.e., spring semester) of your Federal Direct Loans and Federal Pell Grant at your previous school. You may be asked to complete a Loan Semester Transfer form. The Loan Semester Transfer form is a document you sign signifying you will cancel your aid at your previous school. If the aid is not cancelled, your financial aid at ASU may be reduced or cancelled.

If you borrowed a Federal Direct Loan at your previous school with an academic/loan period that overlaps with the academic/loan period at ASU, it may be possible that you will not be eligible to borrow additional funds until the following semester or aid year. If you borrowed more than half of your annual loan eligibility at another school during this same school year, you will only have the remaining of your annual loan limits available for the current school year.
