Arizona State University is committed to maintaining a safe, healthy, and **drug-free campus**. The possession, use, manufacture, distribution, or sale of illegal drugs is prohibited on all ASU property and at university-sponsored events.
Although Arizona law permits certain uses of marijuana, **marijuana remains prohibited on all ASU campuses and in University Housing**, including for individuals with a valid medical marijuana card. As a recipient of federal funding, ASU complies with the federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act and the Drug-Free Workplace Act, which prohibit the possession and use of marijuana on campus.
Students found responsible for violating ASU's drug policies may be referred to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities and may face disciplinary action through the university conduct process. Depending on the circumstances, sanctions may include educational requirements, disciplinary probation, suspension, removal from University Housing, or dismissal from the university. Violations may also result in criminal consequences under applicable law.
