Functional GroupTechnical Resources: MyApps & Software
Information
Mathematica is computational software used in scientific, engineering, mathematical and computing fields, based on symbolic mathematics. Mathematica is available to ASU students.

Students who wish to configure Mathematica (version 8, 9 or 10) for a stand alone license need to sign in to MyApps and download the Mathematica license information PDF. Search for Mathematica and then click the Download App Now link. An option will appear to download the license document.

For Mathematica users wanting to configure their Mathematica license to the central license manager, can make a general request in the Service Catalog or send an email to software@asu.edu asking for the license server. Please note, at this time only ASU owned systems are allowed to connect to the license manager.

When you install MathLM, a single-machine Mathematica license, or Mathematica for Students, you need to register your license to receive a password. If installing Mathematica on a personally owned machine, you should use your home-use license number. You'll also need the MathID number that is generated and displayed by the product during the installation process.

When you request a Mathematica password from Wolfram Research online or by email, you will receive following message:

"Here are the contents for your mathpass file: mypc 1111-11111-11111 L1234-5678 2222-222-222:2:9:20020130"

All mathpass files follow the same basic format, as shown below:

HostnameMathIDLicenseNumberPassword
mypc1111-11111-11111L1234-56782222-222-222:2:9:20020130
The first element ("mypc") is the hostname of the machine on which Mathematica or the Mathematica License Manager(MathLM) will run. For a network password, the hostname would be preceded with an exclamation point ("!mypc"). The second element ("1111-11111-11111") is the MathID number of the machine running Mathematica or MathLM. The third element ("L1234-5678") is your organization's license number. And the fourth element ("2222-222-222:2:9:20020130") is the password for that machine.

Submit a general software request asking about Mathematica licenscing by emailing software@asu.edu.
