If you or your family experiences unforeseen changes in your family's income due to job loss, income reduction, illness, loss of child support, etc., you may request a reevaluation of your eligibility by following these steps:
- Inform Financial Aid and Scholarship Services right away.
Establish the nature of the change in your family's circumstances (the cause and the financial impact) by submitting either a
Student Income Reduction Review form or a
Parent Review form (whichever is applicable). Make sure to include the appropriate, relevant and supporting documentation listed on the form. If you have questions while filling out the form, please
contact us.
- Respond to any requests for additional information as soon as possible.
A financial aid counselor will evaluate your review and the attached documentation. If additional documentation is needed, you will be contacted by email. Please make sure your ASU email account is set up and monitored for communications from our office. Reevaluation of your financial aid eligibility is subject to federal, state and university guidelines and is based on:
- whether or not the change in your financial circumstance has an actual impact on your aid eligibility
- timeliness of your original application for financial aid (filing the FAFSA)
- timeliness and completeness of your appeal, the nature of the change in your circumstances and availability of funds
- Confirm the result of the re-evaluation.
Once the review has been processed, you will receive an email that will summarize the decision and list any further actions you may need to take.
We know that there are many circumstances that may impact your family’s ability to contribute to your education, and will work with you to understand your options and determine if any additional aid may be available based on your individual circumstances. Unfortunately, not all circumstances will be eligible for consideration, and not all appeals will result in additional financial assistance.
