What if I have an in-person defense and one of my committee members cannot physically attend my thesis or dissertation defense?

Information
If a committee member cannot attend your defense, they have the option to attend remotely via videoconference, or they can assign a substitute.  Please note that your chair or one co-chair and at least 50% of your committee members must be physically present for the defense. 

For committee members attending remotely: You must notify the Graduate College by emailing your ASU ID number and the name of the committee member attending remotely to grad-gps@asu.

For committee substitutions:  You must notify the Graduate College by emailing your ASU ID number, the substitute's name, and their email address to grad-gps@asu.
