What is Proctoring?Proctoring is a tool to monitor academic integrity while you are taking an exam.
What is the practice proctored exam in my class?The practice proctored exam has no impact on your grade in the course but it guides you through the steps to set up the online proctoring software and to perform various tests to eliminate issues before your proctored final exam.
What do I need to do to take my proctored final exam?All verified Earned Admissions students are required to take a proctored final exam to remain in the credit-eligible track of a course. Prior to each final exam, you must verify your identification again by:
- Taking a clear distinct picture of yourself using your webcam.
- Taking a clear legible picture of your government issued identification that has the same matching name associated with your ASU account.
Once you verify your identity again, you will be able to begin your final exam.
What should I know before taking a proctored exam?All students should be aware with the proctored exam rules as follows:

You must complete a webcam scan of the room where you will take the exam every time you take a proctored exam.

Your entire face must be visible at all times throughout the duration of the exam and submission of your exam.

You must take the exam in the same room that you scanned during proctoring setup.

No other person is allowed to enter the room while you are taking the proctored exam.

The lighting in the room must be bright enough to be considered “daylight” quality. Overhead lighting is preferred. If overhead lighting is not available, the source of light must not be behind you.

You must sit at a clean desk or table.

The following items must not be on your desk or used during your proctored exam, unless posted rules for the exam specifically permit these materials.

Paper

Pens

Calculators
-
Textbooks

Notebooks

Phones

The desk or walls around you must not have any writing.

The room must be as quiet as possible. Sounds such as music or television are not permitted.

The computer you are using to take the exam must not have more than one display or monitor. For example, if you usually use a laptop with a monitor connected, disconnect your monitor and use only the laptop screen.

You must close all other programs or windows on your testing computer before you begin the exam.

You must not use the following tools.

Programs such as Excel, Word, or PowerPoint

Communication programs such as Skype

Any website page other than the exam window in your course

You must establish your identity by using a government-issued photo ID with a name that matches the full name you used when you signed up for courses.

You must dress as though you were in a public setting.

You must not use headphones, earbuds, or any other type of listening equipment.

You must not communicate with any other person by any means.

You must not use a phone for any reason.

You must not leave the room during the exam for any reason, unless posted rules for the exam specifically permit you to do so
What happens if I get flagged during my proctored final exam?Proctoring reviews are completed by an ASU contractor for each proctored exam. Exams that fail the proctoring review will result in an assignment grade of '0' and user ineligibility to opt for ASU credit. ASU and its Contractors will maintain User data security as required by applicable data privacy laws.
