Department elective credit is granted to any course that is university-level and transferable according to
ASU guidelines and not a
direct equivalent to a course at ASU, but it falls within a given subject area at ASU, it is reviewed for
department elective credit. Please note that department elective credit is also eligible for general studies designations.
If a course receives an evaluation of a department elective it will show on your DARS as subject area + DEC (for example ENG DEC).
