If you enroll at Arizona State University (ASU) as a nondegree student, you can take ASU courses without being admitted to or pursuing a degree program.
Nondegree student status may be a good option if you want to:
- Complete coursework for professional development.
- Take classes for personal growth or personal enrichment.
- Explore academic subjects before deciding whether to pursue a degree.
If you later decide you want to earn an ASU degree, you must apply for admission to an eligible degree program and meet that program's admission requirements. Taking courses as a nondegree student does not automatically admit you to a degree program.
If your goal is to earn an ASU degree from the start, review the admission requirements for your student type before applying rather than applying as a nondegree student.
