What is a Patient Advocate?

ASU Health Services Patient Advocate - Advocates for wellness through student education, support and assistance.
 
Our Patient Advocate can:

• Provide a space where students feel comfortable learning how to navigate the healthcare system
• Discuss the importance of accessing healthcare and maintaining good health
• Inform students about available healthcare services on campus, office locations and hours
• Explain the process of setting appointments and talk about what to expect during a visit
• Provide an overview of how health insurance works
• Review health coverage options which may be available through ASU or outside of the university
• Help students evaluate their healthcare needs so they can make informed decisions 
• Assist student with resolving concerns 
• Connect students to other resources

Our Patient Advocate can help personalize a student’s experience at ASU Health Services by serving as a point of contact for those who are not familiar with the healthcare system or students who simply need some guidance regarding their healthcare. Our patient advocate can help make accessing healthcare less complicated by providing information, resources and other helpful material in a simple, practical and easy to understand way.
