What is Loan Entrance Counseling?

« Go Back
Information

If you are a new federal student loan borrower, you must complete loan entrance counseling. This online session through ASU's partner, iGrad, will explain your responsibilities and obligations when borrowing Direct Loans.

It will take approximately 30 minutes to complete loan entrance counseling. ASU cannot disburse federal loan funds until you have completed loan entrance counseling and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) for each applicable loan type. After completing these requirements, allow up to five business days for ASU Financial Aid and Scholarship Services to receive confirmation that the loan entrance counseling and MPN have been completed. This timeframe applies only to ASU receiving confirmation of completion and does not represent the amount of time required for the loan to process or disburse.

Begin your loan entrance counseling session by clicking the link on the Financing Task List on My ASU.
