What is the Difference Between Commencement and Convocation?

Commencement is the university-wide celebration at which degrees are conferred upon graduating students by the president of Arizona State University.

Convocation events provide the opportunity for individual recognition, where your name is called and you will cross the stage to receive congratulations. Each college holds its own convocation event, as do student cultural groups and ROTC programs within the university.
