What services are offered at the Speech and Hearing Clinic?

The ASU Speech and Hearing Clinic offers speech services to the general public which includes thorough evaluations using modern equipment and procedures, consultations with other medical, developmental and educational specialists and involvement of family members in individualized or group treatment programs. 

Adult speech and language services include individual and group sessions for both general and specialty services in the following areas:

  • Aphasia.
  • Apraxia.
  • Augmentative and alternative communication.
  • Aural rehabilitation.
  • Cognitive-communicative disorders.
  • Dysarthria.
  • Dysphagia.
  • Fluency.
  • Oral head and neck cancer.
  • Parkinson’s voice and communication.
  • Respiratory retraining for athletes and others.
  • Social-pragmatic.
  • Swallowing.
  • Voice.

Elective services

  • Accent modification.
  • Gender-affirming voice and communication therapy.

Pediatric speech and language services include individual and group sessions as well as general and specialty services in the following areas:

  • Articulation and phonology.
  • Aural rehabilitation.
  • Childhood apraxia of speech.
  • Fluency and stuttering.
  • Language and literacy.
  • Preschool language group.
  • Social-pragmatic.
  • Swallowing.
  • Toddler language group.

The clinic serves as training and research facilities for degree programs in speech and hearing science at ASU’s College of Health Solutions. Clinical services are provided by graduate students under the direct supervision of licensed faculty with expertise across a wide range of populations and disorders.
