Students who have completed all degree requirements after the completion of session A courses can choose to have their degree conferred early by submitting a Session A Degree Conferral Request to the Registrar's office. If you are an undergraduate student or a graduate student whose program includes a culminating experience that will not be published on ProQuest, such as an applied project or capstone course, no additional steps are required for Graduate College format review.
Graduate students completing a thesis, dissertation, or culminating experience document that will be published on ProQuest must have the document submitted and fully approved in ProQuest by the last day of session A classes. To find the last day of session A, refer to the Academic Calendar.
Please take the following steps:
-
Reach out to the Graduate College format review team at gradformat@asu.edu to receive a recommended timeline for completing steps in the format review process. The Graduate College does not maintain separate defense and format deadlines for session A conferrals, and a format advisor can help you ensure that your document is revised and approved by the end of session A.
-
On the title page for your document, list the month and year of the last day of session A classes as your graduation date at the bottom of the page. For example, a student graduating in Summer session A would list the graduation date as June 2025.
-
When uploading your document to ProQuest, please include a comment that you are applying for session A conferral in the "Notes to Administrator" section. This allows the format team to provide an expedited review to make sure your document is approved by the deadline.
