Arizona State University uses Backpack to receive Outside Scholarship payments. Outside scholarships are funded by organizations or individuals other than their parents/guardians. ASU no longer accepts paper checks and all payments must now be submitted online.
Outside Scholarship Providers process through Backpack:

Through this portal, Scholarship providers can:
- Provide key scholarship details for student(s)
- Upload an award letter (optional)
- Make secure online payments via one of three methods:
- Checkout (Pay now): Enter bank account and routing details directly in the portal for secure payment processing.
- Payment Link (Pay later): Receive payment instructions through email, allowing your accounting/treasury team to complete the payment through a payment link.
- Manual ACH: Send payment directly to {{University_Name}} by using our banking details (available on request)

The check must to be made out to Arizona State University. The donor needs to include the student's name and ID number on the check or on the attached documentation.
Note: Private scholarships will not disburse unless the student is enrolled full time (undergraduate 12 credits, graduate 9 credits). Please have the donor provide a disbursement and refund policy, including the minimum number of enrolled credit hours required for disbursement of the award. Please provide the student name, ASU student ID number, academic year and term(s) for disbursement on the check. Alternatively, your donor may choose to provide this information through the ASU External Donor Award Form instead.
What if my donor sent the scholarship checks over a month ago and I still don't see it on my account?
Please visit https://tuition.asu.edu/fassprocessing for current processing times.
Check your enrollment. If enrolled less than full time, we will need permission from your donor to disburse even during the summer term. If you are full time, then contact your scholarship donor to confirm if check was cashed. If cashed please contact our office at 1-855-278-5080 with the scholarship check number, the exact dollar amount and when the check was sent to one of the addresses above. If check is not cashed after a month we recommend your donor cancel the check and reissue to our office.
My donor sent funds via wire transfer and it's been longer than a week, where is my scholarship funds?
Please contact Financial Aid and Scholarship Services at 1-855-278-5080 with the wire transfer bank reference number and the date sent from donor. Your Donor may have sent the funds without your student information.
