Who may qualify for VA education benefits?

Information

Eligibility for VA education benefits varies depending on the specific benefit program. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) establishes the eligibility requirements for each program and is the only organization that can determine whether you qualify.

Depending on the program, individuals who may be eligible include:

  • Veterans
  • Active-duty Servicemembers
  • National Guard members
  • Reserve members
  • Eligible spouses
  • Eligible dependent children
  • Certain survivors of deceased Servicemembers or Veterans

Because each VA education benefit program has its own eligibility criteria, qualifying for one program does not automatically qualify you for another.
