Why Is My Private Education Loan Showing a Disbursement Hold on My ASU?

« Go Back
Information

Your private education loan will show a disbursement hold when ASU is waiting to receive the funds, or if manual review is needed.

When you are approved for a private education loan, the school certifies how much you are able to receive, and then tells the lender; they then set a time to send the funding to ASU. Once they send the funding, it does take some additional time for us to receive it and release it to your account. During all of this time, the loan may show a disbursement hold; this is because we have yet to receive the funding from the donor. Please check with your donor to find out when they are sending the funds to ASU, and then give some additional time to allow for normal processing.

Please note that if you are not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress or are enrolled less than half-time, your loan will also say that it is on disbursement hold. This is normal, even if your lender does allow you to receive funding while not meeting SAP or while being enrolled less than half-time. Please allow some additional time for us to review and confirm your eligibility. If your lender does not require that you meet SAP, ASU will disburse your private education loan funds to your student account following that review.
