Many students need a period of transition to get comfortable with being away from home and living on campus with so many new people. To help you overcome this feeling, University Housing staff members are here to assist you with navigating this transition. You can expect for your hall staff to get to know you, build relationships with you and help you get what you need to be successful. Additionally, there are intentional experiences planned to help you to get to know other students in your residence hall. It is important that you give yourself the chance to get to know other students and build a support network. This will help you have a connection to the university and others around you.
As a part of the move-in process, ASU offers many opportunities to get connected with other Sun Devils.
Fall Welcome is an exciting event during August move-in weekend, our Community Assistant and Mentor staff members will facilitate floor meetings to help you get to know other students living on your residential floor and will take you to all these exciting activities.
Another opportunity to connect with our support staff is through the
First Year Success VIP Coaching program. A Coach will listen to your concerns about the challenges you are facing in your transition to ASU and also help you come up with options to address some of the feelings you are experiencing and help you get connected with other Sun Devils and involvement opportunities. Staff members from University Housing and the First Year Success Center work collaboratively to help a student through concerns to ensure the student is academically and socially successful.
