What are Honors Enrichment Contracts?

« Go Back
Information

If an ASU course doesn’t offer an honors section, Barrett students can still earn honors credit by completing an additional project through an Honors Enrichment Contract. This formal agreement must be discussed with and approved by the course instructor.

Key Points

  • Only available for courses that do not already grant honors credit (e.g., listed as “Honors Students Will Receive Honors Credit” in Class Search or marked “In Progress Courses (Honors)” in your Honors DARS).

  • You must meet with your instructor to propose your project and get their support.

  • Contracts must be submitted by the deadline listed on the Barrett website.

  • A minimum final course grade of C (or Y) is required to earn honors credit.

How to Submit

  1. Go to My ASU > My Programs > Barrett Honors College > Honors Enrichment Contracts

  2. Select your course and enter contract details (assignment, meetings, grading, consequences)

  3. Check your email for updates as your instructor reviews and approves

Instructor Approval Process

  • Professors can access and approve contracts at any time through their Class Roster in My ASU.

  • Barrett sends reminder emails to instructors at two key points:

    • Initial Approval Email – sent after the student submission deadline

    • Final Approval Email – sent near the end of the session to confirm completion

  • If your professor hasn’t received an approval reminder, it’s often because the contract was submitted before or after the official deadline.
